Higher strength Macallans are rarely seen in their official release line up, so we're excited to try this bottling that harkens back to older, well loved expressions of the Speyside distillery. Bottled at 55% (110 proof), this is a full on version of their 12 year old sherry cask release.
Official Tasting Notes
Nose – Opens with indulgent aromas of sticky dates, cherry compote, cinnamon, cacao nibs and dried orange slices.
Palate – On the palate, rich oak and sultanas combine with stem ginger, star anise and mandarin, alongside notes of dark chocolate coated espresso beans.
Finish – The finish is long and warming, unfolding in layers of treacle toffee, mocha and sweet cinnamon. Its amber hue and full-bodied character capture the timeless influence of sherry seasoned oak casks.
