Most recently, the car has been through a comprehensive £15,000 overhaul at VRS Performance in Leicester – one of the country’s leading VW Audi specialists. The ABF has been fully rebuilt and fitted with individual throttle bodies, producing a dyno-verified 172 bhp – transforming the rev-happy 16-valve into something genuinely wild in a chassis this light. The bodywork is every bit as considered. The extensive yet subtle work was carried out by Stylehaus in Northampton, finished with a full respray in its original and extremely rare Schwarz Blue.
