Up for grabs is this WW2 First Aid tin with contents! These kits were issued to Jeeps from the early 1940s up to the Vietnam War, where they were eventually replaced with aluminium and then plastic versions of the kit. Different versions were made for different branches of the military and for different environments. This one is the iconic type found on Army Jeeps, with the red Caduceus symbol used by the US’ Medical Department. It would be stored up and behind the dash. Inside is full of contents typical of these types of kits, with tools for “common” medical occurrences in service. Should the Jeep crash, come under fire, or its occupants suffer some other medical issue, one of these tins would be the first course of action to treat the injury.
The kit is sturdy and well built, with two hinges on the front and a piano hinge on the back. The lid also contains a rubber gasket to keep it watertight!
The contents of this kit are real, and the boxes contain their labelled medical supplies. However, the medical contents are vintage and are strictly not to be used in any medical capacity. This is being given away as a display item.
